The Hangover (Theaters) 2009

The Hangover - out of 5 reels, this film receives ***+ (3 1/2 reels)
Let it be known - I have a twisted sense of humor. Please consider this as you continue reading the review. My words for this movie are lewd and crude. If you are unwilling to be slightly offended, you may want to skip this film. I admit to being intrigued and absolutely laughing out loud several times throughout movie.
With the Las Vegas slogan - What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - in full tow, three guys and a groom head to Vegas for an unforgettable overnight stay. Start the formula with a soon-to-be-wed bachelor, stranger-than-life future brother-in-law and two best friends. Complete the potion with an unidentified drug, Las Vegas party options and the pursuit to get into trouble. You've created an unforgettable night that no one remembers. Hold on to your seat as this group backtracks through an amazing night looking for the one thing they dare not show up at the wedding without.
Although this movie is outright offensive in many ways, viewers can't deny the chemistry of the cast and hip music throughout the film. I am not a fan of Bradley Cooper (He's Just Not That Into You, Wedding Crashers). He plays the bad guy way too often. I must admit he does this role justice and made me appreciate him in this film. His chemistry was on point with best friend Stu Price, played by Ed Helms. Cooper shows that he can carry a film. Zach Galifianakis (What Happens in Vegas) holds down the spot of future brother-in-law in the most unique way. He was really strange, but I can't imagine the movie being such a big hit without his odd components. There were moments when this movie was COMPLETELY over the top, even a couple of scenes and characters they could have scrapped or re-written. Overall the film was very funny and provided a new twist on an age old story. I'm almost positive you won't be able to guess the ending!
Are you a Mike Epps fan? Don't fall for the advertising. Although Mike receives first run billing as the movie is coming on - he has a VERY small part in the movie and doesn't appear until the end.
If you enjoy a good comedy and can take a joke this film is a 'must see' for you. I gave the movie an additional 1/2 reel because I can't remember the last time I laughed so loud inside a movie theater.
